Where are all the Interracial cards?
If you have walked down your usual high street/supermarket card aisles you will realise that most of the cards are extremely generic and all quite dull. But more importantly, you will notice the lack of interracial and LGBT cards on show. It is massively difficult to find any interracial and intercultural couples on any greeting card in the UK.
Here at Creased Cards, we are always pushing to have the most diverse and equal greetings cards for any person and any type of occasion.
We already pack our shelves with a huge range of wonderful LGBT cards from several different suppliers. Although this still isn’t enough… We will always be looking to provide our customers with the very best LGBT cards and this range from Huetribe are something different. The stunning high-quality photographic images really show a distinct style to the way Huetribe work.
After a long search (due to the lack of interracial greeting cards) we have finally found a range of beautiful interracial cards which cover a variety of occasions. This is something that has been massively missed and excluded in the greeting card industry for many years. It is way past due…
We are extremely happy to be stocking Huetribe cards and look forward to seeing many more interracial and LGBT designs in the future. Keep reading for a little information about how Huetribe started up and the inspiration behind the ranges.
Straight from the Huetribe website…
“Huetribe is a multicultural and LGBTQ greeting card line which addresses the gaps of racial, cultural and sexual representation in the greeting card market. We believe the world is a colourful place and greetings cards should be too! Huetribe is a part of the GCA, the trade association for the greeting card industry.”
“Huetribe was started after the founder became frustrated by not being able to find greeting cards which reflected her interracial relationship. Our founder, Tineka, and her husband, Alex, are going on 5 years together. They have always had difficulty finding cards which reflect their interracial relationship. When Alex gave Tineka a card with penguins on it – because it was the only greeting card with a ‘black and white couple’ he could find – Tineka knew she had to do something about it. She quickly discovered that she wasn’t alone and that finding interracial greeting cards, as well as LGBTQ cards, was a difficulty among her friends and family as well. And so the idea of Huetribe was born!”
As you can tell… Huetribe really pushes a great cause and even better, they are donating a part of their profits to charities which support equality.
“We value the importance of giving back to the communities we support, which is why part of our profits go to charities which help support racial, cultural and LGBTQ equality.”
Huetribe are not the only greeting cards supplier to provide us with interracial cards in 2020. Cardshit also do a nice range of interracial cards which are a bit less serious.
