A Tour Of Brighton… Through Cards

Brighton is a sunny seaside resort on the south coast of England, just a 50 minute train from London!

Brighton is well known for its diverse communities, quirky shopping areas, brilliant cultural, music and arts scene and a large LGBT population (which has led to its recognition as the “unofficial gay capital of the UK”).

Creased Card’s hometown is known to be the most popular seaside destination in the UK for overseas tourists and has also been called the UK’s “hippest city” and “the happiest place to live in the UK”.

Brighton was the perfect place for our Creased ‘s first store for all of these wonderful reasons. We are here to provide laughter and happiness to our customers, and what better place to do it than one of the happiest places to live in the UK?

Our Brighton store is based in the world-famous Lanes, just a 5-minute walk from the beach. The Lanes is one of the quirkiest shopping areas you will find in the UK. From independent stores to lovely boutiques. The Lanes really do provide a unique shopping experience – hence Creased Cards is smack bang in the middle of it all!  With a brand new Lane set to be opened (late Summer 2018) – one of the biggest developments in Brighton’s city centre in years – The Lanes (and Creased!) has a promising future.

So now you’ve heard a little about our hometown and a few details about how great it is to live in Brighton, why don’t we give you a little tour of Brighton’s biggest attractions through the medium of greeting cards!?

We will also include some Brighton-esque cards just to showcase our wide range of cards.

The Bandstand

The first stunning landmark is the beautiful and truly unique Bandstand which is located on Brighton’s vibrant seafront. The Bandstand first opened in 1884. It was restored to its original specification and reopened in 2009. This greetings card perfectly imagines the bandstand in all its’s glory through an astonishing illustration from a local artist Ilona Drew – and her art and card company, I Drew This.

The Brighton Palace Pier

The beautiful and vibrant Palace Pier is located in the centre of the city, opposite the Old Steine, and it’s been there since 1899!   In 2003, there was a huge fire which started in the ghost train. Firefighters, whose vehicles could not pass along the narrow pier, ran the quarter of a mile to the end of the pier to tackle the blaze, but much damage was done.  Following some restoration work and a change to remove the name ‘Palace’ from its name, the Pier enjoyed a renaissance during the next decade.  In 2016 the Brighton Pier was purchased and after much local discussion and pressure, the original name was restored – the Pier was Palace Pier again!

Entry to the Pier is free and it has over 4 million visitors every single year!   Check out the link here to find out more Brighton Palace Pier.  Here at Creased Cards we have a nice variety of Brighton Palace Pier cards to choose from. All beautifully illustrated…

The Royal Pavilion

The Royal Pavilion is an exotic palace in the centre of Brighton with a colourful history. Built as a seaside pleasure palace for the rather naughty King George IV, this historic house mixes Regency brilliance with the visual style of India and China. This is a massive attraction in Brighton, with not only some beautiful gardens but also an amazing museum  – and it’s just a minute or two’s  walk from the Creased Cards store.  Check out our lovely range of Royal Pavilion Greeting Cards over at Creasedcards.com
